Top Questions:
How do I get dirt cheap traffic that works?
I purchase non-English speaking traffic from foreign countries for pennies that’s less saturated, and that actually converts.
What do you sell?
Nothing! But, in order to get this type of traffic to actually convert you need to use an affiliate network that pays you per lead/action that accepts traffic from foreign non-English speaking countries and multiple languages (this is revealed in this case study).
Walkthrough Tutorial
Introduction:
In this case study we’re going to be using a traffic source called Propeller Ads. We’re going to be going though the exact steps I took to create a successful campaign in as much step by step detail as possible.
Zeydoo’s affiliate network
Zeydoo is the affiliate network I use to find high converting international offers that pays you per action, or lead someone takes. So, instead of needing to make sales you just need to get people to do tasks; like fill out a simple survey to get paid.
Zeydoo has a lot of offers that accepts traffic from foreign countries, so they give you an opportunity to get paid from traffic in multiple countries and languages.
Note: This case study is intended for more advanced marketers that already know the basic steps for campaign tracking and set up.
Step 1: Grab An Offer
First, I used Zeydoo’s affiliate network to find a high converting international offer. This offer (screenshot) was a very high performing offer on their network, and it looked like it would convert very easily because it only required users to complete a simple form to get paid.
I looked through the list of countries that they had available. Different countries payed more than others per action.
I researched with a few data analysis tools (for example Adplexity, Goolge Trends, and ect), and seen that Malaysia looked like it could be a great country to target. The offer payout was a little low paying only $0.20 per survey completion.
I noticed the survey page translated into multiple languages automatically based on the users language setting in their web browser.
Offer Page (English):
Offer Page (Malaysian users example):
This created an opportunity to purchase traffic in non-English speaking countries and to get traffic at extremely cheap rates. This traffic can convert really well depending on the offer and country.
Note: Non-English speaking countries seem to work the best for these types of offers. English speaking traffic tends to be too expensive, have too much competition and doesn’t convert as well with these types of offers (except in the Philippines and Pakistan).
Step 2: Get Proven Landing Pages
Now, I looked to see what types of pages were already working specifically for this type of affiliate offer using a tool called Adplexity. This tool allowed me to view the history of the offer to see which types of pages were already working for other advertisers.
I created a modified version of the highest performing landing page (webpage) that I found (similar, but different) and then translated the text from English into Malaysian.
Landing page (Malaysian):
Step 3: Create Tracking Campaign.
Next, I used a tracking program called CPV Lab Pro. There are free alternative tracking programs available called SKRO and Bemob. I just used what I had.
I created a tracking campaign in CPV Lab by clicking the “New Campaign” button in the dashboard in CPV Lab Pro’s tracking platform.
Then, I added the “General Settings” information to the tracking platform.
I made sure to set the Propeller ads tokens in the “Macros & Tokens” area (including any other required fields).
The landing page created earlier was placed into the “Landing Pages” section.
From here, I added the Zeydoo offer from earlier to my CPV Lab tracking campaign.
I also double checked to made sure something called the Postback URL was set properly in the tracker because I needed it to use Propeller Ads type called “CPA Goal” that uses an algorithm to help optimize the campaign.
Step 4: Create a Propeller Ads campaign
Next, I continued to Propeller ads and created a new campaign, and selected “Pop Under” as the traffic type, and added the campaign URL to the “Target URL” field.
Malaysia was added as the target country, and the CPA goal was set to “$0.04” in the CPA Goal field (setting the CPA goal to around 1/3 of the offer payout, or less has worked really well on this ad platform).
The “Daily Campaign Budget” was set to $14 and the “Total Campaign Budget” was set to $50.
Targeting:
For the targeting I selected the platform as “Mobile“, and the “Operating System” to Android. The “OS Version” was set to Android 5-14+.
Step 5: Analyze data
In a very short period of time the campaign was profitable with about $1.55 in profit and around $6.35 in total revenue. Now this might not seem like a lot, but it showed that this campaign was off to a good start.
After analyzing the data I decided 31 conversions was enough data to stop the campaign and optimize the campaign by the zone id’s (publishers).
Step 6: Optimizing the campaign
I copied the highest performing zone ids (this is really important to remember).
And then, duplicated the existing campaign. Only the profitable zone ids were placed into the new Propeller Ads campaign (that was duplicated) using the same “CPA Goal” type. What this does is allow us to only pay for traffic/zones that’s been shown to be profitable.
The new campaign’s “CPA Goal” bid was set high at $0.144 to see how much traffic was available.
Step 7: Check Results
After checking the data for the campaign optimization method seemed to be working really well and the ROI stabilized at around 90%.
The next step was just to increase the revenue by purchasing traffic from other traffic sources, and purchase different ad types like Push traffic, and other forms of cheap ad inventory.
Conclusion:
I hope you guys liked this method. The offer was profitable in multiple countries (and languages) including the Hungary, Serbia, Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand.
